Why Is A MACH Important??

The MACH title is really only important to me and those people in Agility that know what it takes to get this title. I'm sure that most people unless they read these pages don't have a clue about the program or what it takes to get through it.

Al doesn't know what a MACH is except that one day people really got excited when he ran, and his Dad ran with a big ribbon in his hand once, and everybody was happy, and crying, and hugging him.

Oh yeah, that day Al got extra big treats, and everybody wanted his picture.

The MACH title was for me.  Al never asked me to help him earn it.  I wanted it to honor our journey in Agility competition, and to have Al recognized for his accomplishments in getting as far as he has in the sport.

There is another reason that Al's MACH is important.  When we run I've discovered that a lot of people are "with us" on the run.  It's because not everyone has a dog that will earn a MACH or even have a chance at getting one.  We are running for a lot of people that know that Al got through some of the issues that they are struggling with in their dog's training/performance, and they are happy to see that somebody did it!!  Al is an "everyman" in dog agility!!  There is also lots of interest in our runs because of the happiness that exudes from the little guy when he runs!!  It's infectious and makes people feel good.  It is a demonstration of why we all do the sport.
