What's a MACH??!!

The MACH Certificate (click to enlarge)

Before March 12, 2006 only 2 Italian Greyhounds had ever earned a MACH.

A MACH is the acronym for the Masters Agility Champion title.  This is a Championship Title awarded by the American Kennel Club to dogs that compete in AKC Agility Trials.   At the time Al earned his MACH, less than 2000 dogs competing in Agility had ever earned a MACH title.

Al is now officially registered as:   MACH Willowmere's Jazzman D'Laviere.

Here is a description of the MACH program from the AKC rules and regulations:

Chapter 2 Section 2:

To obtain the MASTER AGILITY CHAMPION title (MACH), a dog must exhibit superior performance on the Agility course. Speed and consistency are the two major qualities denoting "superior performance" and therefore they are the basis for the MASTER AGILITY CHAMPIONSHIP program.

Title:

The AKC will identify a dog that achieves the Master Agility Championship title  (MACH) by the appropriate designation (MACH) preceding their registered name in all official AKC records.  The MACH designation will supersede all eight of the Agility titles (NA, NAJ, OA, OAJ, AX, AXJ, MX, MXJ) that must have been awarded before a dog can qualify for the Master Agility Championship designation.

The committee that devised the rules must have had a few Sadomasochists!!  It's not an easy thing to accomplish!!!
