A Typical Training Session

This is what we do 2 times a day and sometime 3, and sometimes none.  Off camera to the right is a table which Al is using in this session.

He is starting to really like going Under the hoop.  And my distance has increased so that I am sending him out 15 feet.  I need to start throwing a treat bag or toy out for him so that he continues on away from me as he is starting to automatically turn to me after going under.

At the end of this clip are a couple of runs through the weave poles which are a standard set of 12.  I timed it on my computer and his time from when he entered the poles to when he exited was 2.133 seconds.  I think that is pretty good.

In competition he is between 2.5 and 3 seconds depending on the entry.  He seems to be slower the straighter the approach to the poles.  He likes to be turning into them. I don't know if you will see it, but I am fading off as he gets closer to the exit from the poles.  In practice I can get out 10 to 15 feet and he still stays in the poles, but I haven't had the nerve to try it in competition yet.

This day the temp was 45 degrees and the grass and table were wet from a morning rain.

The barking in the background is the racket that Grace and mostly Simon make when they are in the house and can't play agility.  Sometimes I think they will break down the door!!  Also if you listen closely you can hear me use the clicker to mark the behavior that I want.
