Simon's Debut

I started to doubt in Sept '08 whether I would ever get Simon in the Ring.  It was a risk to enter him as he still is very distractible.  I knew that it would either be a disaster or a success.

On Saturday Feb 14th he had his first official JWW run in AKC and did just fine.  He held his start line, paid attention, and had I not dropped my hand on one jump, he would have run clean.  As it was, he stuck with me, and we corrected the refusal, and he qualified, and earned a 3rd place in Novice B (16 inches).  Even with the correction which took almost 6 seconds, he was the fastest 16 inch dog.

On Sunday Feb 15th, Simon has his second JWW run, and he had a beautiful run!!  He was focused, happy to run with me, and although he was fast, I know he has a lot more speed than he demonstrated.  Even so, he ran at just under 5 yards per second.  His time was 20.92 seconds over 100 yards and he won 1st Place.  There were no other qualifiers, and the next fastest 16 inch dog (that didn't qualify) was over 8 seconds slower. I'm very proud of this run with Simon.  He was happy to play and this was a high stress building/venue which he worked through very nicely!!  What a good boy.

Simon had a big week.  He had his first group agility class, and also his first taste of AKC Agility Competition!!
