Al Running Over an 18" inch High A-Frame
February 6, 2006
I decided it was time to take Al on to the next step, and raise the A-Frame up to 18" so that we can get an idea on how to control his strides on the ascent and the descent.
He is running over the A Frame now, and he turns hard after the descent in both directions. The verbal command is "go under". Then once he's committed to going under, but probably hasn't passed through the hoop, I say "left" or "right", and then if I want him to go in the weave poles or to the table, I say "Wiggle" or "Table". It's hard calling him to the table though as he loves the weave pole entry after the corner. His entry into the weave poles after the right turn is more difficult as he has to do the entry from the side he is turning from, which means he has to find the entry without going around the first pole. He's about 75% on that entry, with me at a distance from him.
